I would guess 99.9 % of our readership loves bacon. The .01% if on a camping trip with bacon will instantly become converted to a bacon eater! Guaranteed!

Wanted to give everyone a quick reminder to have their pork supplies ready to celebrate this coming Sunday. If you live in Iowa you may be lucky enough to get a ticket to the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival billed as American’s premier bacon celebration. This years event is being called, ” Baconpocolypse Now: I Love the Smell of Bacon in the Morning”. Unfortunately for all us latecomers, all 4,000 of the tickets to the event sold out in 25 minutes. That’s no surprise considering that 3 tons of bacon will be served and consumed in one day!
Plan ahead for 2013. 1 general admission ticket costs $135.00 or for $625 you can get a reserved table for 10 with complimentary festival hats. I found 3 tickets being sold on craigs list. I wouldn’t count on finding scalped tickets being sold at the event so you might want to jump on these.
Obviously a Perfect Compliment to Bacon and Most Pork Products!
As you would expect, this festival hosts the usual events like, bacon eating contests, bacon song contest, live music etc… What caught my attention is the “Bacon Lecture Series” covering a host of bacon topics such as:
- Do it Yourself Charcuterie – from Belly Bacon
- Zombies, Bacon & Survival
- How Bacon is Changing My Life!
Those lectures alone are worth the price of admission. Another draw to our demographic is Pabst is sponsoring the event and upon entry ticket holders are issued a Baconpocolypse “kit” which includes among other things a beer cozy! You owe it to yourself to check out the pictures from last year’s event.
