Ask me why I got into the whole signature tying biz. My answer might surprise you. Some might think it was to make money, not the case! Others will point at self promotion. Maybe its because I love to tie “sample flies” for hours on my dime and then give them away to Chris Conaty…wrong again. My actual motive was to dethrone a champ.
Brian Silvey is an amazingly talented fly tier. Tandem tubes, Tube Snakes, caddis emergers of all kinds, dries that solve problems and produce fish. Most recently the “Silvanator”, a get down in the holding zone quick fly. The mania surrounding this fly is like nothing ever seen in fly fishing. When Silvey arrives at the boat ramps at O-Dark-Thirty it’s like a Beatles concert with throngs of fans all trying to get an autograph and a free Silvinator sample! Screaming men and women going ape shit for Mr. Silvey. A security guard is probably going to be in the mans future, the popularity is par with Justin Bieber.

Well, that brings me back to my motive. Brian’s fly pattern successes, monster royalty checks and superstar status, would be reason enough to try and get into the fly tying game, but I want something else…I want to take his jet ski title!
Many don’t know that Silvey is a 5 time Jet Ski champ, in both freestyle, and slalom. His moves are legendary like his Tandem Tubes. His status in the inner circles of the Jet Ski world makes his Fly Fishing reputation appear as a turd in high grass. I want that!
Idylwilde was the only way I could get close enough to Silvey to make my dream a reality. Right now I am in the market for a Jet Ski, and let me tell you, Mr. Silvey’s day is coming baby! Craig List is my supermarket for the machine that is going to knock Silvey from his pedestal. You can bet your ass on that. It’s on! I am going full bore, acquiring neon wet suits, Oakley blades, lots of Budweiser and hitting the right hair stylist for a trim of just the front and sides, let the back flow like a waterfall!
So there it is. Now it’s all about executing the plan and a new star will be born. Just had to find my way in to the Silvey inner circle and the Idylwilde signature tier program was just the vehicle.

Even if, and thats a big IF, you could get close to dethroning the champ, you will never ever come close to having the skills to mimic the stach. You can’t teach a mustache like that. It’s a genetic gift and talent like that only comes along for a few lucky people. Its a natural talent that Silvey’s got with the whole package and tons of upside. He has not even come close to his peak yet!

Figures someone would have to bring up Silvey’s porn stache, i got my first chest hair last year, so the stache will come in time, i know that.

Rumer has Silvey is crushing it on the Sandy this week. (I’ve seen photos) He once again is taking everyone down for the title “sandy river king” again. Franchise player! Dude is a dynasty….
Its amazing that Silvey can so easily retail two crowns in two different sports at the same time. Dude is “Lani Level”!
